How long does the Deferred Sales Trust last or when do I have to pay the tax?

The note is typically set for 10 years and can be renewed for another 10 years every decade. The trust can pass to your heirs, who can renew it indefinitely. Taxes are owed once you or your heirs take constructive receipt of the funds. Notes can be structured for less than 10 years if desired.
